I spent three years as a Leica Specialist in the UK. Started at the Harrods boutique, ended up building out their nationwide Specialist programme. Before that I read philosophy at UCL. I've been shooting events and portraits in London for five years & helped photographers of all genres deepen both the technical & intellectual dimensions of their work.
Lessons are one-to-one and open to anyone at any level, on whatever you want to work on. First-time beginner or fifteen years in - we start where you are. My approach to the teaching of photography is simple, & oriented around one thing, nurturing your passion for photography.

One-to-one, in person, anywhere in the UK, often on the streets of central London. We can work with the camera in your hands - composition, light, the mechanics of your particular system - or head out and shoot wherever the session takes us. Whatever your level, we start where you are and build from there. From £60 an hour.

One-to-one, wherever you happen to be. Well suited to portfolio critique, getting set up on a new camera, working through the thinking behind an image, or prepping for an interview or a project. The same attention, over a screen rather than a shoulder. From £50 an hour.

Bring your own group and we'll take to the streets together - a few hours shooting on location, with guidance pitched to wherever everyone's at. Good for a few friends, a club, or a team day out; equally at home with film or digital, first-timers or veteran photographers. London by default, further afield on request. From £200 for two hours, £300 for four. Further bespoke pricing upon request.

Three hours of photography shooting my own Leica MP and 35mm Summilux F1.4 FLE through the streets of London - a camera I've put thousands of frames through, handed to you for the morning or afternoon. We work the rangefinder properly: focusing by patch, metering by eye, reading a scene before it's gone. Includes three rolls of film, shot and developed, so you leave with negatives that are yours to keep. It makes a superb gift for any photography lover - and there's no better way to find out whether the legendary MP is the camera for you before committing to one of your own. £225 for three hours.

Six weekly online sessions over Microsoft Teams, with assignments set between each one. Start with a free 15 minute consultation call, following which I design your bespoke curriculum in advance of week 1. Pick a fixed weekly slot or keep it flexible week to week. Optionally, the last session can be in person - come to London and we shoot together.
It's the same one-to-one tuition, just stretched out properly. The assignments mean we can build on what we did last week instead of starting fresh each time. By the time we complete your bespoke curriculum you’ll have developed towards your established goals and feel more confident behind your camera.
